The main purpose of her visit was to reassure the people of Joplin that the Red Cross will do everything within its power to continue helping in their recovery. Let’s make 2009 the year the world finds an answer to climate change. 
The numbers dont sound big, but their effects could be cataclysmic. A 2C rise above pre-industrial levels would see 20-40% of the Amazon die off within 100 years. A 3C rise would see 75% of the forest destroyed by drought over the following century, while a 4C rise would kill 85%. (Nature Geoscience).

However there is good news. The worst of global warming can still be avoided if Greenhouse gases levels are cut substantially.

Terry Pratchett: Choosing To Die

This is one of the most profound television presentations I have ever seen. I have included it in my cause-related video collection because it is about a man, Terry Pratchett fighthing for a cause he believes in. 

Regardless of how you feel about the issue, you must appreciate the eloquence of the participants.

Warning - this video deals with the uncomfortable subject of assisted suicide. I share it because I believe it is an important subject.  The video is an hour long.

The Crying Indian - Keep America Beautiful

In 1971, the Ad Council and Keep America Beautiful partnered to introduce us to the Crying Indian - Iron Eyes Cody. Not surprisingly for the era, we wasn’t actually an aboriginal American.  However, that didn’t prevent this commerical and others in series from being one of the most iconic ever made on the issue of pollution.

Today, the commercial might feel a little over the top, but there is no denying the power of the symbols and images. Talking heads, often those of celebs, are used frequently today in cause-related videos. We mustn’t forget the power of a good narrative story and powerful images.  Lessons we can re-learn from 1971.

I strongly believe that we have to do more for women especially in countries where they are marginalized. I believe women can change the world and this video shows just one thing we can do to help make that happen. Strong facts, like those in this video, can great strengthen a charity’s appeal.
